In 1953, under the leadership of the Carmelites, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish was born. The first order of business was to start a school. In fact, the school building were constructed first, making it necessary to use the school gymnasium (our present Parish Hall) for the parish church. All effort was focused on the opening of our school and in September of 1954, Our Lady of Mount Carmel School began classes under the capable administration of the School Sisters of Notre Dame. Almost Fifty years later, still under Carmelite leadership with Fr. Ron Oakham O. Carm. as Pastor, we continue to dedicate ourselves to the education of our children.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel School is a non-discriminating Catholic co-educational school for students from Pre-K3 through 8th grade; dedicated to excellence in education "teaching as Jesus did through example". Our mission is to proclaim the Good News of Jesus through the total education of students. We integrate Christian morals and family values into the total learning experience, enabling students to learn and grow in a safe, academically excellent, faith nurturing environment.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel school is fully accredited by the Texas Catholic Conference and the Texas Education Agency and our students have a reputation for academic excellence.
