    PHILOSOPHY

The document: To Teach as Jesus Did, compiled and approved by the national conference of Catholic bishops in November, 1972, is the basis for our philosophy.  We state our commitment to the total education of our students at Our Lady of Mount Carmel by implementing the threefold message of this document.

A.  Message   " For I  have not spoken on my own, no, the Father who sent me has commanded me what to  say and how to speak.  Since I know that this commandment means eternal life, whatever I say is spoken just as  He instructed me."

  John 12:49-50

B. Community   " I give you another commandment: Love one another.  Such as my love has been for you, so must your love be for each other.  This is how all will know you for my disciples, your love for one another."

John 13:34-35

C. Service   " You address me as 'teacher' and 'Lord' and fittingly enough, for that is what I am.  But if I washed your - I who  as Teacher and Lord- then must was each other's feet.  What I just did was to give you an example.  As I have done, so must you do."

John 13: 13-15

Our Educational ministry is to meet the needs of the individual's spiritual, moral, intellectual, social, cultural and physical development.

The school community reinforces the idea of the family unit as the primary educator of the students.

Christian morals  and values are integrated into the total learning experience, enabling the student to live in a faith community actively engaged in the service of God, Church and neighbor.
